If the letters in our inbox are any indication, there seems to be quite a bit of renewed  interest in gold, so we decided to take a good look. We have put together some charts of the Handy and Harman (H&H) spot gold index, as well as charts comparing the price of gold to the SP500 and charts comparing the price of gold to the CRB Index.

The charts below show the spot gold index vs the CRB Index, which is a measure of consumer prices. We derived this data by dividing the H&H spot gold index by the CRB Index. This first chart is a short term view:
